The Public Call is open for WiFi4WB Initiative, which is part of the EU4Digital Action, funded by the European Union (EU) and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ). The WiFi4WB Initiative is designed to provide free public Wi-Fi hotspots in towns and municipalities across the Western Balkans, with a focus on public spaces such as squares, parks, libraries, museums, and schools.
The Public Call is open to all towns and municipalities in Serbia, whereby the Proof of Agreement signed by the Mayor must be uploaded on the WiFi4WB | WiFi 4 Western Balkan platform during the application process.
Deadline for application: 28.04.2025
Before applying to Public Call, towns and municipalities must first register on the WiFi4WB platform. For the application process you will need to:
1.Upload the Proof of Agreement signed by the Mayor
2.Nominate and Describe Wi-Fi Network Locations (up to three locations) - as only one location per LSG will be selected, the order of listing is crucial, with the first-ranked location being considered the top preference of a LSG and receiving priority in the selection process.
3.By applying, the town/municipality agrees to participate in the WiFi4WB initiative and to receive free public Wi-Fi (upon the selection under this Public Call) at the concrete location. The assistance includes technical equipment, installation, and maintenance for up to three years. After this period, to be entirely funded by the WiFi4WB, the town/municipality commits to covering the cost of internet service for at least one additional year. This ensures continuity and supports the long-term sustainability of public internet access.
Participating towns/municipalities of the WiFi4WB Initiative will receive comprehensive support, including supply and installation of Wi-Fi equipment, internet service and maintenance. In return, LSGs are required to commit to maintaining the service beyond the initial funding period, ensuring long-term sustainability and impact.
