Conference on

The conference on "Working Together for Sustainable Development - Agenda 2030 - Novi Sad" was held on September 30, 2019, in Novi Sad. This conference is part of the regional project "Social Rights for Sensitive Groups" (SoRi), of the German Development Cooperation, implemented by GIZ GmbH and its partners - the Provincial Institute for Social Welfare in cooperation with the Provincial Secretariat for Social Policy, Demography and Gender Equality, Standing Conference of Towns and municipalities (SCTM), and the Town of Novi Sad.

The aim of this activity is to contribute to the awareness-raising of the Agenda 2030 and the localization of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), and is intended to highlight important topics in this area through discussions with stakeholders (different approaches to the implementation and follow-up of the Agenda 2030 and its localization) and to present examples of good practice.

The UN Agenda 2030 - The Global Development Agenda contains 17 Sustainable Development Goals, stemming from the Millennium Development Goals and interconnect through all three dimensions of sustainable development - economic, environmental and social.

Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals requires engaging all three levels of government: global, national and subnational (local). Bearing in mind that the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals is basically happening in the local communities because they are closest to the citizens, it was concluded that they need to be incorporated into the daily activities of the local community and planning documents at the level of local self-government units.

The participants were addressed by Ljiljana Kokovic, Assistant Mayor of the Town of Novi Sad, Milena Peralovic, Project Manager "Social Rights for Vulnerable Groups" (SoRi), Dusanka Golubovic, President of the SCTM and Mayor of Sombor, Tatijana Grncarski, Director of the Provincial Institute for Social Welfare, Sanja Stankovic, Assistant Commissioner for the Protection of Equality, and Predrag Vuletic, Provincial Secretary for Social Policy of the Government of AP Vojvodina.

The first panel session was dedicated to multisector cooperation in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, and the second panel session was dedicated to the localization of Agenda 2030 and SDG.
