Smederevo presented project "Property Management for Future Users"
The project "Property Management for Future Users" was presented in Smederevo on January 28, which is being implemented under a grant scheme of the Exchange 5 Program, funded by the European Union. The project is being implemented by the Town of Smederevo in partnership with the municipalities of Zabari and Malo Crnice. The value of the project is € 174,500 and the aim is to strengthen capacity for better property management and more successful local economic development.
"The main job of local self-governments is to separate public from private property and then to provide all users with appropriate services", said Ivan Bosnjak PhD, State Secretary at the Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government. He emphasized the importance of the inventory and listing in order to take better care of the local self-government property, which will thus ensure its placement in the development function.
"The Republic of Serbia is preparing to assist local self-governments in the next investment cycle, but it is essential that the local administration take responsibility for everything related to permits, landscaping and ownership," said Bosnjak.
Smederevo Mayor Jasna Avramovic PhD stated that in the coming period about 4000 objects will be registered in the ownership of the Town, which will increase the value of local self-government property. "In this way, we will be able to take care of these facilities, both roads and infrastructure, as well as buildings, but also to apply for funding from various funds for their maintenance", Avramovic said.
Mayor Avramovic thanked the European Union, the Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government and the Standing Conference of Towns and Municipalities for their support in the implementation of the project, which provided IT equipment, necessary software, and organized education for the employees of the town administration for the quality of the inventory and listing work.
Malisa Antonijevic, Mayor of Malo Crnice emphasized the importance of the project, stating that with its implementation the municipalities will finally have a real insight into the structure of the property at their disposal and create conditions for economic business.
Milena Radomirovic, Exchange 5 Program Manager on behalf of the SCTM as a partner in the implementation of the Grant Scheme, said that the area of public property management requires first conducting a complete inventory and listing of property units, and then deciding on the use of LSG property. This is one of the preconditions for local economic development.
"Although not particularly visible, activities in this domain are extremely demanding for the local administration, and in proportion to this, both for the improvement of the existing investment environment and for the future use of European structural and investment funds", said Radomirovic.
Property Management for Future Users project is being implemented under Exchange 5 Program, funded by the European Union from the IPA 2014 allocation, implemented by the Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government (MPALSG) in cooperation with the Standing Conference of Towns and Municipalities (SCTM) as an implementation partner. The contracting authority for all grant scheme projects is the Ministry of Finance, i.e. the Sector for Contracting and Financing Programs from European Union Funds (CFCU).
