The Smart City Expo World Congress (SCEWC) 2025 is the world’s biggest and most influential event for cities and urban innovation. In its largest edition to date, the event will take place from November 4 to 6, 2025, in Barcelona.
Organized by Fira de Barcelona under the slogan “The Time for Cities,” the congress and exhibition will bring together 1,000 exhibitors and 25,000 participants, with an even larger exhibition space than last year’s record-breaking edition.
At the heart of this year’s discussions will be strategies that make metropolitan areas more sustainable, efficient, and livable. A special focus will be placed on the role of artificial intelligence (AI) as a key enabler of the urban transformation process. A new area titled “AI-Powered Cities” will showcase how AI is accelerating urban projects around the world.
The event will host leading global companies, including Axis Communications, Bentley, Dahua Technology, Dassault Systèmes, Dell, Deloitte, iotsquared, Microsoft, Nvidia, Spie, Urbaser, and Veolia, along with numerous national pavilions – from Argentina and China to France, Germany, Italy, Japan, and Korea, as well as Mexico, the Netherlands, the Nordic countries, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
The Capital of Modern Urbanism
The congress will feature over 600 speakers and international experts, with a program divided into eight thematic tracks: Technology, Energy & Environment, Mobility, Governance & Economy, Living & Inclusion, Infrastructure & Building, and the Blue Economy.
Among the confirmed speakers are Nikki Greenberg, Director of Real Estate of the Future and a globally recognized futurist with more than 20 years of experience in real estate development and urban innovation, and Kate O’Neill, Founder and CEO of KO Insights, a digital innovation strategist focused on enhancing human experiences through data and AI technologies, who has collaborated with Google, IBM, Microsoft, and the United Nations.
A Global Hub of Innovation
SCEWC 2025 also highlights the importance of startups as a driving force behind new ideas in urban development. To this end, it will feature the Innovation Platform – a space designed to connect investors, research centers, and 80 startups, bringing the total number of young innovative companies at the event to nearly 350.
To further strengthen its position as a global hub for urban innovation, the congress will also host several co-located events:
Tomorrow.Mobility World Congress (in collaboration with EIT Urban Mobility)
Tomorrow.Building (dedicated to innovative construction)
Tomorrow.Blue Economy (focused on sustainable use of ocean resources)
and the fourth edition of the Barcelona Deep Tech Summit, dedicated to the scientific and university-based technology entrepreneurship ecosystem.
