The European Committee of the Regions has launched the call for applications for the Young Elected Politicians (YEP) Programme 2026. The programme is open to young local and regional politicians from EU Member States and candidate countries, including Serbia. The application deadline is 17 April 2026.
The Young Elected Politicians (YEP) Programme is an initiative of the European Committee of the Regions that brings together politicians under the age of 35 holding a mandate at local or regional level. It offers participants the opportunity to gain insight into EU decision-making processes, take part in discussions and events, and build a strong network with peers across Europe.
Since 2023, the programme has been extended to EU candidate countries, providing young representatives from these countries with enhanced opportunities to actively contribute to shaping Europe’s future. Through the YEP programme, participants from candidate countries can engage directly in the European Union’s democratic life and represent their views at EU-level fora.
Selected participants will have the opportunity to:
take part in meetings of thematic commissions and plenary sessions of the European Committee of the Regions,
meet with members of the Committee of the Regions and participate in dedicated capacity-building activities for young politicians,
exchange experiences and good practices with peers from across Europe,
enhance their knowledge of EU legislation and funding opportunities,
participate in major European events, including the European Week of Regions and Cities.
Over the years, the YEP programme has empowered young local leaders to bring the European Union closer to their cities and regions.
