The support package for the improvement of social protection at the local level was received by 20 local governments, and they include the implementation of activities aimed at improving legal, financial and institutional mechanisms for sustainable planning and implementation of social protection at the local level.
Support for the establishment or improvement of the local social protection system will be implemented in accordance with the methodology of the municipal support package that the Standing Conference of Towns and Municipalities has developed and applied for many years. Five of the selected 20 local governments will also receive additional support for the development of "new mechanisms", i.e. specific aspects of the social protection system, and all local governments will be supported in financing one or more social protection services.
SUPPORTED LOCAL GOVERNMENTS:
In order to further support the improvement of local social protection systems, the SCTM launched a public call for applications for eight (8) additional support packages for the improvement of the social protection system from 13 January to 7 February 2025. The support packages are intended to strengthen the capacities of local governments through expert and technical assistance, with the aim of improving the planning and legal framework, as well as financial and institutional mechanisms, which enable sustainable planning and efficient functioning of the social protection system at the local level, in accordance with the applicable strategic and legal acts of the Republic of Serbia.
In the upcoming period, the following municipalities will receive support: Inđija, Lapovo, Knjaževac, Srbobran, Negotin, Nova Varoš, Žagubica and Ljubovija.
