DURATION: 12 months

BENEFICIARIES: Children with developmental disabilities and/or disabilities, Parents/guardians of children, Staff of the Center for Social Work, Members of the Inter-sector Commission, Representatives of local government, Representatives of preschool institutions and service providers
One of the primary challenges faced by the local government in Novi Pazar is the inability to accurately predict the number of children who need the service of a Personal Child Companion, given the constant increase in requests for this service.
The goal of the project is to increase the quality and availability of the Personal Child Companion service in Novi Pazar, which will improve the quality of life for children with developmental disabilities and contribute to promoting inclusion in society. During the project implementation, the focus will be on enhancing the capacity of key institutions to effectively plan, organize, and implement this social protection service. By improving planning and coordination mechanisms, strengthening the capacity of service providers, increasing access to the service, and ensuring quality service delivery, the project aims to solve existing problems and enhance this social protection service in Novi Pazar.
One of the main activities of the project is the implementation of the Personal Child Companion service for 30 new users who have been on the waiting list for a long time. The service will be provided by a licensed service provider, and direct support to the children will be provided by 15 associates, who will undergo an accredited training program. This activity will also include support for parents or guardians of children with developmental disabilities in terms of accessing the service, as well as other rights and services in the field of social protection.
The second part of the project relates to strengthening the capacity of institutions involved in any way in the implementation of the Personal Child Companion service. In this regard, training will be organized for employees of the Center for Social Work, local government, inter-sector commission, and preschool institution to empower them to effectively implement policies and practices that enhance support services for this vulnerable population. The staff of the Center for Social Work plays a key role in assessing needs, facilitating access, and coordinating support services for children with developmental disabilities. Through this training, the center's staff will acquire the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively handle all stages of the professional procedure related to the Personal Child Companion service. The Inter-sector Commission is responsible for coordination across different sectors to address the complex needs of children with developmental disabilities. The training for commission members will address topics such as policy interpretation, coordination mechanisms, and collaboration strategies.
As part of the project, a brochure will be produced containing clear and concise details about the service, its objectives, eligibility criteria, benefits, and the application process.
