The project "Social Protection for Families at Risk in Opovo Municipality" introduces a new service in the community in Opovo municipality from the group of advisory-therapeutic and socio-educational services - a counseling center for families at risk. Given the sensitivity of the topic, it is necessary to thoroughly and comprehensively secure the necessary resources and conditions that are vital for the successful functioning of the support mechanism, hence the project activities are wide-ranging – from capacity building of local institutions through training and study visits, to improving the legal framework at the local level, to raising awareness about this issue. The newly established service will begin during the project and will be integrated into the regular activities of the local social protection institution. The Center for Social Work will enhance its capacities to introduce and then provide psychological support and assistance to families at risk, primarily working on the prevention of domestic violence, but also on all other cases of family ties disruption.
The project's goals include: To increase the availability and effectiveness of social protection in Opovo municipality by introducing a new service in the local community and to provide the necessary conditions and resources for establishing a new long-term and effective support mechanism for families at risk, in order to prevent the occurrence of domestic violence and the institutionalization of members as a possible consequence.
Main project activities are: Improvement of the legal framework for establishing a new social protection service, Capacity building for establishing a new social protection service, Provision of a new social protection service, and Raising awareness about the project and social protection services aimed at families at risk.
By influencing the stability and well-being of families, the project also contributes to strengthening social cohesion, improving the quality of life, raising awareness about tolerance and problem-solving, as well as fostering a sense of unity and mutual support in the local community.
