VALUE: EUR 42,735
DURATION: 12 months
PARTNER: Association “Čarain“
BENEFICIARIES: Roma and non-Roma community, journalists, and local institutions in the municipality of Bačka Palanka
The primary goal of the program is to develop effective and efficient mechanisms to combat discrimination and create conditions for active social inclusion of Roma men and women. The ultimate goal of this initiative is to significantly contribute to the demarginalization of target groups, ensuring their successful exercizing of social and cultural rights.
In response to the decision of the municipality of Bačka Palanka to address inequalities and discrimination against the Roma population, the project focuses on providing additional support, information, and services. It emphasizes advocacy and active participation in decision-making processes to balance initiatives at the national level.
During the project implementation, it is planned to hold training sessions for professional development of journalists and media staff to create content aimed at the Roma minority, which will pay attention to recognizing and marking significant dates for the Roma national minority. Also, a document will be prepared that details the historical discrimination and anti-Gypsyism faced by the Roma.
Direct assistance to the Roma community will be directed towards maintaining informational and educational initiatives to empower Roma men and women to resist anti-Gypsyism and discrimination, as well as training on anti-Gypsyism as a form of racism and anti-discrimination that will be aimed at employees in education, social and health services, state service, and local self-government unit. Attention will also be given to education for empowering Roma community leaders for self-organization and active participation.
