BENEFICIARIES: 15 children and youth with disabilities who are unable to independently meet their needs without the assistance of family or support from individuals they can rely on throughout the day.  Priority is given to children who are part of the educational system but do not have a personal companion, or children and youth who have completed primary or secondary school and lack support in the social services system.

The project "Promoting Social Inclusion of Children with Developmental Disabilities through the Introduction of New Community Services in Loznica" will support the enhancement of the quality of life for children with developmental disabilities and their families through the promotion of social inclusion, the introduction of a new service - home assistance for families with children with disabilities, and the development of socio-educational services in the community.  The main idea of the project is to provide support to a child or young person with developmental disabilities to meet their daily needs in their own home in order to improve their quality of life and better integrate into the community.  The home assistance service enables parents to overcome daily difficulties, reduces stress levels, and provides more time for other activities. This service allows families to develop, strengthen, and open up to the social environment.

The home assistance service will be provided by 15 trained assistants and will be implemented in accordance with the Regulation that will define the conditions and criteria of the service as well as in accordance with individual support plans for each beneficiary.  Families will be supported through assistance in maintaining the child's personal hygiene and meeting basic personal needs (help with dressing and undressing, bathing, washing hair, teeth, etc.); assistance in maintaining the cleanliness of the apartment and performing daily activities to meet basic needs (providing meals, shopping for groceries, preparing meals, feeding, cleaning the space; assistance in moving inside and outside the beneficiary's home, workplace, and places of social-educational activities, parks, playgrounds, assistance in using transportation, etc.; assistance in using therapeutic and health services in performing various work, educational, and social activities; with developmental disabilities and improves the quality of life of individual groups and members of their families, respectively in the homes of users 2 hours of planning, preparation, and reporting).  To improve the inclusion of children with developmental disabilities, workshops-tribunes on supporting children and youth with disabilities will be organized to promote the importance of a tolerant society in which every child feels accepted and respected.

By establishing a socio-educational service for children and youth with developmental disabilities and disabilities, professional workers will be engaged to support and empower families and children - youth with developmental disabilities to work on improving social skills and communication; enhancing emotional states and mental health; providing support for inclusion; increasing independence and quality of life.

At the end of the project, a meeting is planned to exchange experiences with social protection service providers from local communities in the surrounding area, sharing best practices, strategic directions, and policies for the development of services at the local level.  The goal is to exchange knowledge and information, to share experiences, successes, and challenges faced by service providers in their daily work; creating a network of professionals; encouraging cooperation between different social protection service providers and developing joint strategies and initiatives to improve the quality and efficiency of service delivery to beneficiaries.
